Stolen car located in Wigan and arrest made in major police operation

A Range Rover Sport which had been stolen during an overnight burglary in Altrincham was spotted in the borough.

Police cars boxed in the 4x4 and a helicopter was also involved in the operation.

An arrest was made a few streets from where the officers managed to stop the vehicle.

Police said the Range Rover was located after it had refuelled at a nearby petrol station. Officers also said its number plates had been changed.

The dramatic incident was described on the GMP Traffic Twitter account.
