Police say a "substantial amount of heroin and crack cocaine" was discovered in the car, as well as cash.

More drugs were said to have discovered when a house was raided, at an unknown location, in connection with the case later.

A Wigan West police spokesman said: "The female and a 33-year-old male from the Liverpool area are currently under investigation."

Police have so far not confirmed what has happened with the eight-year-old boy in the car.

Police have urged anyone with information about drug dealing in the Wigan area to contact the force on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers, in confidence, on 0800 555 111.
