Regan Wallace appeared before Wigan magistrates to plead guilty to being at the wheel of a Mercedes GLA which was in collision with a 17-year-old who stepped out into its path on Kitt Green Road, Kitt Green, on July 17.

The hearing was told that the pedestrian, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was knocked to the ground in the crash.

But instead of tending to the casualty, 22-year-old Wallace, of Elizabethan Drive, Ince, drove off. Neither did he later contact the police.

Although injured, the teen was able to get up and the emergency services were contacted.

Having admitted to driving without due care and attention, failing to stop after an accident and failing to report an accident, Wallace was ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work and was banned from driving until he re-passes his driving test.

A total of £180 must also be paid to the court and victim services.
