Wigan armed raid suspects remanded in custody

Two men accused of being members of a masked gang who attacked a Wigan mini-market armed with an axe and a hammer have been remanded in custody.

Stephen Warburton, 45, of no fixed address, and Daniel Lewis, 30, of Bradshaigh House, Wigan, appeared before borough magistrates charged with conspiracy to rob the Tesco Express outlet on Gidlow Lane, on Thursday night.

Three men were said to have fled with a quantity of cash and cigarettes.

Both suspects were remanded in custody pending a first appearance before a Bolton judge on June 11.
