Wigan man accused of two police assaults

A man admits being armed with a craft knife in Wigan police HQ’s custody suite but denies attacking two officers that same day.

Mark Phoenix, 28, of Sullivan Way, Scholes, appeared before justices to plead not guilty to assaulting PCs West and Bretherton on April 28 but pleaded guilty to having a knife. A trial date of September 13 was set before which he must observe an electronically tagged curfew and live at home.
