Wigan man admits assault on police officer

A Wigan man has been given a community order after failing to do a breathalyser, assaulting an officer and failing to turn up at court.

John Shaw of Bird Street in Ince pleaded guilty to all three offences, which were committed last month.

Wigan magistrates ordered the 28-year-old to pay costs of £170 and gave him a year-long community order during which he will complete 80 hours of unpaid work and 20 days of rehabilitation activity.

He also received a two-year driving ban.
