Having initially pleaded not guilty to the offence, Craig Reid, 32, of Langdale Road, Orrell, appeared in the dock at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court to change his plea before a trial took place.

The hearing was told he had been stopped by police as he drove a Vauxhall Combo van in Garswood, on November 27 last year, and gave a reading of 95 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath.

The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
