Wigan men arrested on suspicion of murder after death of mum

Detectives investigating the murder of a mother of four have arrested two men from Wigan.

Avan Najmadeen, 32, was found at her home on Glebedale Road, Fenton, near Stoke-on-Trent, at around 5pm on Monday.

A 33-year-old man from Wigan and a 33-year-old man from Liverpool have been arrested on suspicion of murder. They remain in police custody.

Magistrates have also granted detectives a further 36 hours to detain a 35-year-old man from Wigan who was arrested on suspicion of murder.

Staffordshire Police are continuing to investigate Avan's death. Forensic investigations are ongoing and local officers are carrying out reassurance patrols in the area.

Senior investigating officer Det Insp Victoria Downing, from the force's major and organised crime department, is appealing for anyone with information to come forward and help with the investigation.

She said: "Enquiries into Avan's tragic death are continuing and we are urgently appealing for any driver who may have dashcam footage from around Glebedale Road on Monday, October 1 between 9am and 4pm to contact us."

Police have also released a photograph of Avan.

Anyone with information is asked to call Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident 594 of October 1, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

Detectives are also keen for any information about this investigation to be submitted online.
