Wigan shoplifter armed with two knives and a hammer jailed

A shoplifter who went thieving armed with two knives and a hammer has been jailed for six months.

David Whittle, 35, of no fixed address, admitted to Wigan justices that he had a large kitchen knife, smaller blade and hammer when he stole £80 worth of cleaning products from B&M Bargains on October 5.

He was also ordered to pay a £128 victim services surcharge and the knives were confiscated for destruction.
