Sophie Turner, 25, of Baxter Street, Standish, appeared before Wigan and Leigh justices charged with breaching coronavirus regulations by being in an address that was not her home address.

The offence, said to have taken place on April 25 when infection and death rates were at their height, is in contravention of the Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) Regulations 2020.

The case has appeared in court as concerns grow that a second spike in Covid-19 infections is beginning.

The bench adjourned the case until September 30.
