Woman accused of jail smuggling

A woman has been accused of smuggling phones and drugs into Wigan’s jail.

Wendy Roberts, 47, of Tegid, Wrexham, faces charges of bringing, throwing or otherwise conveying cocaine, cannabis and two mobiles to Hindley Prison on April 30. Wigan magistrates immediately sent the case to be heard by a Bolton judge on December 9 before which time Roberts is on unconditional bail.
