Criminal damage and bail case is adjourned

Darren Derricott, from Pemberton, admitted he did not turn up at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court on May 10.

Derricott, of Ormskirk Road, had already pleaded guilty to not surrendering to bail on April 14 and to damaging a glass door in an incident in March.

However, magistrates agreed to once again postpone the case so a probation report could be prepared.

Defending, Bob Toppin said Derricott suffered from severe mental health problems but his mum, who was in court, would ensure he turned up in future.

The prosecution said had any further offences been committed while Derricott was on bail the Crown would have applied to have him remanded in custody.

The case will now return to court on June 14. Derricott was also bound over to keep the peace for 12 months and ordered to pay £50 if he did not do so.
