COMEDY chav Devvo is coming to Wigan.
The funnyman is set to be the headline act at the Laughs on the Lane comedy night at the Bellingham hotel on June 30.
He shot to fame after starring in YouTube videos before being asked to appear in sketches on E4.
His acts are shot in “mockumentary” form seeing the character’s life as an unemployed young person in his hometown of Hull with him approaching members of the public.
Devvo’s videos went viral and he quickly obtained a cult following. One of his episodes sees him at Leeds music festival getting into various scrapes.
Wigan comedian Jimmy O is the man who has brought him to town and he reckons the act will go down a storm.
“Devvo is fantastic,” said Jimmy. “He went down really well when his shows went out and has got a massive fan base.
“It was quite random how we got him. I met him in Edinburgh, I was just walking passed him and recognised him so went over for a chat and got friendly with his manager.
“Since then I’ve kept in touch and asked if Devvo would like to come to Wigan and thankfully he said yes.”
The popular Laughs on the Lane comedy night has a fast-growing reputation and has featured some of the town’s top comedians.
Organiser Jimmy is now hoping to add a twist by including some bigger names as headline acts.
Jimmy added: “The nights are going really well but I want to take it in a slightly different direction now.
“Devvo will be our headline act this month and do a half hour slot but we have some other great local comedians too.
“There’s going to be a brilliant local act called Clarence Frank who was won King Gong twice at the comedy store.
“We’ll also have Steve Pownall too who is absolutely fantastic.”
Although some tickets may be on sale on the door on the night, this is not guaranteed so Jimmy is urging people to buy in advance to avoid disappointment.
The night kicks off at 8.30pm and tickets, priced at £10, are available by calling 07807 949866.
