THIS is the first photograph of the four-year-old boy who was left with a fractured skull after being attacked by an American Bulldog.
Kye Hughes’ mum Katie Hayes has described the horror moment she found him covered in blood on Monday afternoon.
The youngster is now in a stable condition in the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, where he has since undergone emergency surgery following the attack.
Police and paramedics were called to Adelphi Street in Standish just before 4pm and discovered Kye had received a serious head injury following the bite. The dog has since been seized with an investigation launched.
Ms Hayes says her son has made good progress in hospital though and is now awake and chatting.
“I was in my house and he wanted to go outside and play,” she said.
“At about 3.45pm his friend knocked on our door and said that a dog had bitten him.
“I didn’t think it would be as bad as it was, all you could see was his blood. It was absolutely horrible.
“He has a little fracture in his skull and the bite goes from one ear to the other.
“He is doing better now though and is back to his old self.”
Earlier today (Tuesday) a man and woman – both 45 – were arrested on suspicion of possessing a dog dangerously out of control. Both have been taken into police custody.
