HAVING braved their way through the winter months, traders on Wigan’s outdoor market are looking forward to spring and summer.
The stallholders featured this week were enjoying the sunshine during our visit and are hoping for more of the same for the upcoming months.
Newcomers to the market scene Fuzail and Adam Patel have recently opened their Indian Delights food stall, offering up delicious sub-continent cuisine for on-the-go shoppers.
Fuzail said: “We have only been here for two weeks but we’ll be here most days from now on.
“All of our food is freshly prepared and can be taken away for freezing or in takeaway containers for later that night.
“This is all homemade food by ourselves.
“We’re normally here throughout the day up until about 3.30pm.”
Located just outside of the entrance to the indoor market hall, Nasarullah Raja’s Green Garden Fruit and Vegetable store is another relatively new addition to the complex.
Nasarullah said: “We’ve been open since last September, we’re in a good location here with lots of people walking past.
“Everything in here is as fresh as you can get and we always have offers on that are very popular with our customers who come in especially for them.
“At the moment we’ve got a great deal on sacks of potatoes, for example.
“We also have a good selection rare vegetables such as Okra and Cassava and a range of fresh African products.”
Pam Mayers’ stall has been a mainstay of the outdoor market having been trading for more than two-and-a-half decades. She said: “I’ve just taken over another section so I’ve been able to expand.
“For the summer we’ve got a lot of sunglasses in as well as some seasonal scarves - there’s a big selection and they’re perfect for the warmer weather.
“We’ve also got a range of fascinators in with the Grand National coming up soon.
“And they’re perfect for weddings as well because we’re just coming into wedding season.”
