The singing Time Lord nemesis, Davros, played by Paul Dolman, impressed judges in the early rounds and is one of 40 acts through to the live semi-final stage.

The origins of the act lie in the Deep Space Deviants, a band which rehearses at The Old Courts in Wigan and Paul, 47, is the owner of Static Records on Hallgate.

Singing their version of Loveshack and then performing Riverdance clearly made an impact on the rest of the judging panel despite Simon Cowell appearing unimpressed.

Viewers on Saturday saw Davros/Paul struggle to get off stage after receiving the good news he was through as his wheeled unit struggled to get down the BGT steps.

The live semi-finals take place throughout this week with the first on Sunday evening.
