Police shut off a busy Wigan road after a crash involving a car and a stationary vehicle.
Firefighters were called to Wigan Road in Aspull at 3.20pm alongside police and had to cut a woman free.
The road was closed at 3.50pm for around 40 minutes by police, who set up diversions via Holly Road.
A service for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called to Wigan Road at 3.20pm to reports of a crash involving two cars; one of which was stationary.
“One woman had to be cut free from the vehicle using hydraulic equipment.”
A spokesman for the North West Ambulance Service confirmed that the woman was taken to hospital.
