Driver escapes with minor injuries after car lands on its side

The Mercedes came to a stop on the northbound carriageway of the M6, between junction 25 at Bryn and junction 26 at Orrell.

It is thought the driver may have lost control due to oil or fuel on the road.

The car landed on its side on the hard shoulder and no other vehicles were involved in the incident.

The emergency services and Highways England were called at around 3pm today.

There were two people in the car and they were seen by paramedics after suffering minor injuries.

Firefighters from Wigan attended to make the car safe.
