A WIGAN motorist has described the terrifying moment a car bonnet crashed over the central reservation on the motorway and landed just yards in front of him.
The motorist who was waiting in traffic in the outside lane of the M6 motorway near to junction 27 in Standish feels lucky to be alive as the piece of red metal landed yards away from his car, creating a shower of sparks in the incident yesterday (Tuesday).
The driver, who doesn’t wish to be identified said: “I was sat in a huge queue of traffic as soon as I got on the motorway when I saw a car flash past in the fast lane on the other side with its bonnet missing.
“Then I saw something red fly up into the air and crash into the road right in front of me.
“If it had gone through the windscreen I could have been killed. I really was very lucky not to have been hit.”
