Drowned teen in quarry named

A TEENAGER who was found in a Wigan quarry has been named locally as Miracle Godson.

Emergency services were called to Appley Bridge Quarry on Appley Lane North at around 4pm on Friday after reports a 13-year-old boy could not be found and was believed to be in the water.

Lancashire Police later confirmed they had recovered a body.

It is thought that Miracle was a pupil at St John Fisher High School and was a promising rugby player.

The North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) confirmed rapid response vehicles and an air ambulance attended the scene but said the incident was a police matter.

Fire crews are also at the scene.

Lancashire Police is yet to officially confirm the 14-year-old’s identity and a post mortem is expected to take place soon.
