Lilley, 44, from Newton-le-Willows was arrested by the Spanish Guardia Civil two years ago after going on the run to the Costa Del Sol.

He had been jailed in 2000 for drug dealing offences and challenged the legality of his extradition but the High Court denied it was unlawful and denied his appeal for a retrial.

After being brought back to the UK put behind bars and told he must serve 15 years in prison, Lilley’s legal team challenged the legality of his extradition.

Lilley, a bodybuilder, was tracked down in July 2013 – when armed police found him cowering naked in the panic room of a luxury villa.
