A WIGAN man smeared his own excrement inside a police van on a drunken rampage.
Daniel Marsh, 30, of Woodcock Drive, Platt Bridge, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in a public place when he appeared at Wigan Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
Mike Ardern, prosecuting, told magistrates that on May 22, police were called to a canal path, off Warrington Road, following reports from a passing motorist that there was a fight between a man and woman.
Officers witnessed Marsh pin a woman against the wall and as they approached him, he was aggressive and began swearing.
He was then arrested and taken to a police van.
Mr Ardern said: “He continued to shout abuse at the police. He made threats and pulled his trousers down and smeared excrement inside the van. Police decided not to charge him for damage to property.”
Mr Ardern added that Marsh repeatedly thrashed his head against the wall and was taken to hospital with swelling and was later discharged.
Representing himself, Marsh said: “I had a binge and had not drank anything for ages.”
Marsh, who was previous convictions, was fined £60 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £20 victim surcharge.
