PUPILS at a school in Ashton-in-Makerfield got to discover the mysteries of outer space on a day of learning that was truly out of this world.

Year 7 pupils at Cansfield High School took part in a space-themed STEM day, which encourages youngsters to engage with science, mathematics, design and technology.

The star attraction of the day was a visit from Cheshire-based company Starchaser, who took along a 9ft rocket, gave a demonstration of rocket propulsion and answered a range of questions about how space travel works and how astronauts live while in space.

Teachers also came up with a range of space workshops.
