WIGAN school-leavers can take advantage of a discounted travel scheme to help their further studies.

This September students enrolling onto full-time courses at Wigan and Leigh College can sign up to a subsidised £50 bus pass allowing them to travel to and from college at a cheaper rate, including evenings and weekends. To keep their pass, students are expected to have at least a 90 per cent attendance record.

Principal Cath Hurst, seen here with students, said: “The scheme will assist students, aged 16, to have direct access to public transport at a much lower cost, easing the financial strain for many families. Passes are limited to a first come, first served basis.”
