EXAM boards have been given an extra week by councils to respond to a call for a remark in English GCSE exam papers.

Last week, Wigan Council gave its support to a national campaign which calls for GCSE English exam papers taken in June this year to be re-examined in line with the papers taken by their fellow pupils in January.

Now, Ofqual, AQA and Edexcel have asked to be given until October 4 to respond to the campaign, which has been accepted by local authorities.

Lewisham Council, who is leading the campaign have called for a regrade of all papers now.
