PUPILS in Wigan have raised more than £1,000 for a children’s charity.
The youngsters of Bryn St Peter’s Primary School took part in a sponsored spelling bee and times-table challenge, to raise money for Winston’s Wish, which supports young people who have experienced the loss of someone very close.
Each class also organised its own events, such as cake sales, raffles, a feed-the-bird challenge and a big breakfast money-spinner, raising a total of £1,131.
Headteacher Gill Collier said: “It makes me very happy that we were able to raise such a large amount of money from a school with just over 200 pupils. “Our pupils and their parents really do care for those less fortunate than us.”
