PUPILS at a Wigan primary school were paid a visit by a leading politician.
The shadow education minister, Stephen Twigg, spent time at Westfield Primary School on Montrose Avenue. The Labour MP has spoken out about proposed plans by the Government to change child to staff ratios in nurseries.
Mr Twigg said: “The idea that nursery staff should look after more one and two-year-olds has faced almost universal criticism from childcare experts, nursery staff and parents.
“This creates real fear amongst parents who need some reassurance on the quality and affordability of childcare.”
