The six-year-old has been battling cancer for much of his short life.

His dad Wayne Prescott said he was “absolutely heartbroken”.

In a post on Braiden’s Facebook page, which is liked by more than 22,000 people, he said: “He’s only got a few months left to live now and is receiving end-of-life care. We’ve not come to terms with this yet. There’s no way we’d be able to let our baby go.”

Braiden, who lives in Ince, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in 2012 and following a mammoth fund-raising drive, was flown to the USA for proton beam treatment.

Sadly it failed, but after aggressive chemotherapy he was given the all-clear in September 2013.

But the cancer came back in December.

Plans for a seventh birthday party for Braiden are still set to go ahead on Sunday.

The fund-raiser will include bouncy castles, three birthday cakes, a magician, balloons, face painting, tombolas and more from 2pm to 6pm at Whelley Labour Club.
