A scene more like Greece than Wigan, the beautiful blue sky is reflected in the Leeds Liverpool Canal with Trencherfield Mill on the left.
The soaring temperatures have brought hordes of people into parks and green spaces at lunchtime and the evening to enjoy the delightful weather.
Easterly winds will bring temperatures down slightly but the weekend and into the early part of next week promises to remain sunny and warm.
Forecasts earlier in the week for thunderstorms are looking “less likely”.
A spokesman for the Met Office said: “It’s staying sunny and warm and dry for most (into next week),” she said.
“There is a small risk of seeing some showers developing in the far south-west but otherwise it will be dry.”
