HE may have been the red hot favourite to win I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here but former Latics favourite Jimmy Bullard became the first contestant to be voted off the show last night.
In what is already being surprised as the biggest shock the programme has ever seen, the 36-year-old received less votes than Melanie Sykes, Carl “Foggy” Fogarty and Tinchy Stryder as Ant and Dec delivered the news to a shocked camp.
As his name was read out, a smile etched across the cheeky cockney’s face but other celebrities gasped in total disbelief.
“I was loving it in there,” he told presenters Ant and Dec in his interview afterwards.
“I wanted to stay a bit longer. A few of the others got upset. I would love to see Foggy to win it. He was my first closest mate in there but Jake as well, it would be great for him.”
One of the reasons for Jimmy’s shock elimination could well be an “argument” with X Factor reject Jake Quickenden.
The viewing public may well have misinterpreted the exchange for nastiness on the former midfielder’s part as opposed to “banter”.
Earlier in the show, Jimmy, Foggy, Tinchy and Melanie all took part in a bushtucker trial where they had to drink a combination of horrific cocktails.
Jimmy, who spent much of last week as odds on favourite to win the show, had to down two drinks.
The first was called “White Zinfanhell” – better known as blended camel’s testicles before he wretched as he drank blended lamb brains. All four managed to drink all of their drinks.
