A TEENAGER who was arrested for inciting disorder in Wigan via social media has escaped punishment.

The 15-year-old, who was 14 at the time of the offence and cannot be named for legal reasons, is believed to be from the Ashton area.

He was arrested on August 9 on suspicion of inciting disorder over allegations that he set up a Facebook group to instigate a riot in the borough following similar acts across the country.

He was bailed by police until October 10 and has now been given a final warning for encouraging or assisting in commissioning an indictable offence under the Serious Crime Act 2007.
