A DEVASTATED Wigan family believe their beloved cat may have been snatched by cruel thieves.
Five-year-old Smudge went missing on Monday last week from his home in Castle Hill Park, Hindley, while his owners were out on a bike ride.
Now, Hiba and Max Rushton and their two children Sammy, nine, and six-year-old Ayah, have urged anybody with information to contact them.
The heartbroken family have fruitlessly searched day and night and believe their pet may have been stolen.
Hiba said: “He’s such a gorgeous, beautiful cat and has these amazing blue eyes. The children are so upset and really miss Smudge. We’ve had tears from them and they’re out with us all the time searching for him.
“We have contacted all the local vets, councils, and visited every road around, even the neighbours have all been helping with the search but nobody seems to have heard anything. It’s strange that there has been no word of him at all as he has never gone past the neighbours house before.
“We have heard from others that it’s quite common for people to take pets around here and I don’t know what has happened but it’s just so confusing how he has disappeared. We now just want to raise awareness and appeal for people to help us in our plight to find Smudge.
“He is microchipped and that was activated on Wednesday just in case anybody had found him and tried before that.”
The family adopted Smudge when he was a kitten in Saudi Arabia five years ago before moving back to England last year. Anyone with details can contact Hiba on 01942 526302 or 0771 532 5940.
