Firefighters investigate blaze at pub
Firefighters were called into action this afternoon after a fire broke out in a pub store room.
Crews from Skelmersdale and Ormskirk were called to The Stocks Tavern in Alder Lane, Parbold, shortly after 12.40pm today (Monday, October 2). They spent two hours dousing the flames, and remained at the scene for around two hours to make sure the building was safe.
The fire service said one person was treated at the scene, though the pub reported on social media that nobody was injured.
On its Facebook page, the pub said: "Unfortunately, due to a fire which broke out in our upstairs store room The Stocks is now closed.
"No one was hurt in the fire and we want to thank everyone, including the fire service, for the support we have been shown at this time."
A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 12:42 on 02 November, four fire engines from Skelmersdale and Ormskirk attended a fire at a commercial property in Parbold, Wigan.
"Crews used four breathing apparatus, two hose reels and a positive pressure ventilation unit to control the fire. They then used small tools to remove debris and make the location safe.
"One casualty was treated at the scene. Firefighters were in attendance for approximately two hours.
"The cause of the fire is currently under investigation."
