Crews from Skelmersdale and Ormskirk were called to The Stocks Tavern in Alder Lane, Parbold, shortly after 12.40pm today (Monday, October 2). They spent two hours dousing the flames, and remained at the scene for around two hours to make sure the building was safe.

The fire service said one person was treated at the scene, though the pub reported on social media that nobody was injured.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 12:42 on 02 November, four fire engines from Skelmersdale and Ormskirk attended a fire at a commercial property in Parbold, Wigan.

"Crews used four breathing apparatus, two hose reels and a positive pressure ventilation unit to control the fire. They then used small tools to remove debris and make the location safe.
