FOUR men have identified themselves to British Transport Police investigating a violent mugging at Atherton railway station.
Officers made a public appeal for help earlier this week and issued a quartet of CCTV images of men they felt might have information relating to the attack on the morning of Saturday February 21.
The victim was said to have been stopped at the entrance to the station by a group of men who dragged to the ground and hit in the head before his phone, headphones and train tickets were stolen.
Since the appeal four men have come forward and identified themselves to the BTP who say that they will all be interviewed at length in due course.
Meanwhile Det Sgt Stephen Kite, who headed the investigation, said: “I would like to thank the local media for their assistance in publicising this appeal.”
He asked media to remove the original article from websites and cancel any plans to re-run the appeal.
