A MAN has been charged with manslaughter following the death of Wigan dad Francis Farrell.

David Horner, 23, of Scholes is now set to appear before Wigan Magistrates today (Thursday).

A 22-year-old man, who was also arrested, has been released without charge.

Mr Farrell, 56, was found with a head injury at around 4.10am on Sunday, June 17, on Frog Lane, Wigan.

He had been captured on CCTV walking along that road just minutes earlier.

He passed away three days later on Wednesday, June 20.

A post-mortem examination concluded that the cause of Mr Farrell’s death was a head injury.

Detectives are still appealing for information from the public following the charge.

DCI Joanne Rawlinson said: “I still want to hear from members of the public and those who have information that will be vital to this investigation.

“I would like to reassure anyone who can help us but still has concerns that they can speak to me in the strictest of confidence.”
