WIGANERS are jumping for joy after it was announced that one of Europe’s largest trampoline parks will open in the borough this summer.
Velocity Leisure has unveiled a massive 46,000 sq ft leisure facility on the Wheatlea Industrial Estate which it is hoped will create dozens of jobs following a £1.5m investment in Wigan.
The firm opened its first trampoline park in Widnes last year, with the facility proving so popular the company has already sprung into action to expand.
The Wigan park, on Caxton Close, will be 19,000 sq ft larger than the original Velocity attraction, with a huge range of trampolines allowing visitors to get airborne and soft play areas for young children.
Velocity Leisure managing director Steven Cosgrove said: “When we opened the original Velocity Trampoline Park in Widnes in 2015, we could never have predicted its popularity.
“Aside from our free-jump passes and regular activities, we are receiving increasingly high demand for our children’s parties, which is why my wife and business partner Cheryl and I decided to begin the search for a second site.
“We are thrilled to be opening another venture in the North West and we are already looking at other sites. The future looks very exciting.”
The opening of the Wigan facility will bring Velocity’s staff count to 160, with the firm also running leisure venue Funtown and Prescot soft play centre Spaceworld in addition to its trampoline parks.
As well as providing a huge range of trampolines for aerial fun and soft play areas Velocity will also run a range of bouncing-based fitness classes at the Wigan park.
