Girl injured after being hit by car

A girl remains in hospital in a stable but serious condition, six days after being hit by a car.

The 12-year-old girl was in a collision with a white Skoda Rapid on Leigh Road, at the junction with Prescott Street, Leigh, at around 8.50pm on Saturday.

Emergency services attended and she was taken to hospital for treatment.

The girl suffered “significant facial injuries” and is still in hospital in a “stable but serious condition”, police said.

The car stopped at the scene.

Officers are appealing for anyone who saw what happened to contact them.

PC Dennis Delve, from Greater Manchester Police’s road policing unit, said: “I’d like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone who has dashcam footage.

“Like any investigation, we are piecing together information to establish the full circumstances so any assistance from the public would be extremely helpful.”
