Guides’ grand day out

SCORES of Wigan Rainbows, Brownies and Guides joined 8,500 members from across the North West at the Pleasure Beach, Blackpool to celebrate Girlguiding North West England’s 40th anniversary.

The fun-packed, girl-only event dubbed A Grand Day Out is the largest ever hosted by Girlguiding North West England and boasted a range of treats for those who attended, including exclusive access to the park before members of the public could enter, unlimited rides and the chance to see a exclusive highlights from the Hot Ice Show.

The girls also took part in Girlguiding North West England’s World Record attempt for the largest Cha Cha Slide after having lessons from professional dance teachers during the day.

Sue Lomas, Chief Commissioner for Girlguiding North West England said: “A Grand Day Out was a fantastic success and I saw thousands of girls and young women taking full advantage of the exciting opportunities that guiding provides throughout the event. We created this event to give our girls the chance to celebrate 40 years of Girlguiding North West England in style, which they certainly did!”
