WIGAN health chiefs have urged women to watch for signs of ovarian cancer as part of a national awareness month.
Dr Tim Dalton, local GP and Clinical Chair of NHS Wigan Borough Clinical Commissioning Group has warned women to look out for symptoms such as persistent stomach pain and bloating, struggling to eat or feeling full quickly and needing to urinate more often.
He said: “If you’re experiencing these symptoms on most days you must visit your GP as soon as possible.
“We support initiatives that raise awareness of cancers. Ovarian cancer is the fifth most common cancer among women after breast, bowel, lung cancer and cancer of the uterus (womb).”
