Doctor in conduct hearing

A PSYCHIATRIST faces being struck off for prescribing drugs to people who were not his patients.

Dr Abiodun Jackson Agara worked for the 5 Boroughs Partnership NHS Trust, which operates mental health services in Wigan.

A General Medical Council fitness to practice hearing in Manchester heard how Agara is accused of taking prescription forms from his old workplace and using them to give drugs to non-patients.

Agara admitted to using the slips without authority to get drugs to treat diabetes, high blood pressure and heart complaints after he left the trust in November, 2006.

The hearing will assess if he is guilty of misconduct.
