Hospital staff in new protest
Wigan Infirmary staff made it clear that their objections to the hospital trust's turning some of its business over to a new company will not be going away.
Unison members demonstrated today (Wednesday) on Wigan Lane over plans to switch over estates and facilities roles - including switchboard operators, porters, cleaners, caterers and transport staff - to WWL Solutions.
The union is currently balloting members over possible strikes action.

Hide AdOpponents say the law leaves staff no guarantees that terms and conditions will be protected after an initial period.
WWL chiefs have repeatedly sought to allay fears, saying it has no wish to water down anyone’s working rights or pensions.
