A local school dinner provider is celebrating top national honours.
Metrofresh, the Wigan Council service offering school meals and staff to the 84 primary schools across the borough, has won the APSE Annual Service Award for “best efficiency and transformation initiative.”
The title highlights how the local authority is embracing best practice to offer outstanding services while being good value for money.
The winners were announced at a ceremony in Edinburgh and awards were presented by Julie MacDonald, broadcast journalist and presenter.
Coun Jenny Bullen, cabinet member for children and young people said: “It’s absolutely fantastic that Metrofresh have won this award.
“Getting the right nutrition has so many benefits for children and offering a range of food choice is a great chance to give them a taste for fruit and vegetables they may never have discovered.
“I would like to take this opportunity to say thank-you and congratulations to all the staff who work tirelessly to ensure this high-standard of service is continued each day.”
