A WOMAN has suffered serious injuries after a horrific hit-and-run incident.
At about 12.40pm on Saturday the 30-year-old was about to cross Manchester Road, Astley, at the zebra crossing, near to the junction of Higher Green Lane, when a motorbike came round the corner and collided with her.
The rider fell off his bike, but then got back on and rode away.
The woman suffered injuries to her leg, stomach and ribs and is being treated in hospital.
The motorcyclist is described as wearing all blue leathers and a white helmet. The bike is described as an off-road style bike.
Police Constable Mike Bradley of the Road Policing Unit said: “A woman has been left seriously injured after the collision and the rider of the motorbike left without calling an ambulance for the her.
“We believe that four motorcyclists were riding in the area together at the time and I would urge anyone who saw the collision or the motorbikes around the time of the collision, to speak to police immediately.”
Police are now appealing for witnesses and would ask anyone who saw what happened to contact police on 0161 856 6173, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
