A BOROUGH community group is celebrating after discovering they are a winner in the Skipton Building Society’s Grassroots Giving grants initiative.
Friends of Haigh Country Park triumphed over nearly 1,000 other applicants from across the country to win £500 following widespread support in a public vote after it’s story was publicised nationally.
Friends Of Haigh Country Park is a community group run by 16 volunteers, who have to date worked to refurbish Haigh’s run-down crazy golf course.
It now wants to update the course, and install fresh obstacles, making it up to date and a lot more exciting, resulting in more people attending the course.
Chairman John Hulme said: “Our crazy golf course offers great fun for all the family. We see people of all ages use it.
“We’re so excited now we’ve received this funding, as we can make a start on the improvements, and offer a new, exciting course for the community.”
