A NEW 24-bedroom extension has been opened by the Mayor of West Lancashire, Coun Nikki Hennessy at the iconic 18th century Lancashire Manor Hotel.
Situated just off the M58 at Skelmersdale, the hotel now boasts 74 luxury bedrooms offering a variety of accommodation for its business clients as well as event organisers.
This new £1m investment follows the initial £2m spent on the hotel in 2010 and bosses say it highlights the local demand for stylish accommodation.
The event was attended by directors Mark and Tim Timmerman, general manager Steve Hopkins, members of the hotel team and guests. The Mayor of West Lancashire, Coun Nikki Hennessy discussed the history of the hotel, and the importance of the venue in the local community. She said: “The Lancashire Manor hotel is a hidden jewel in the West Lancashire crown, and I am delighted to be here supporting investment in the borough, which builds on a well-earned reputation, whilst also providing jobs and services.”
During the reception guests were given the opportunity to tour the facilities.
Mr Hopkins said: “The increase in demand for accommodation is a credit to the team here, with corporate clients filling the hotel Monday to Thursday and our wedding bookings now surpassing 100 a year.
“It’s down to their hard work and commitment to the hotel that we find ourselves in this fantastic position today.”
