POLICE have launched a search for relatives of two Wigan borough men who have died this month.
Both were the same age but are otherwise unconnected apart from the fact that officers have so far been unable to trace any next of kin for them.
Joseph Greenhalgh, aged 58, of Gathurst Road, Orrell, died on Wednesday this week and police say there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
But they have so far not been able to track down any surviving relatives, should there be any.
Likewise they have struggled in recent days to locate anyone who is related to another 58-year-old man, Patrick Fahy.
Mr Fahy, of Birchfield Avenue in Atherton, died on Monday September 19 and again police say there is no reason to suspect any foul play surrounding his death.
A police spokesman said: “So far we have drawn a blank in both cases.
“We would very much like to hear from anyone who is related to either Mr Greenghalgh or Mr Fahy.
“This is so that formalities regarding the death and funeral arrangements can be arranged by family rather than the authorities.
“Equally if anyone who knew either man has any knowledge of any next of kin, could they please get in touch as soon as possible.
“Any details including names and/or possible locations would be most welcome.”
Anyone with information is asked to call the coroner’s police liaison officer in Wigan on 0161 856 7962.
