The Reet Good Beer Festival certainly lived up to its name.

The annual real ale celebration at Wigan Youth Zone took place at the weekend.

Drinkers in the huge marquee located on Mesnes Park Field at the back of the state-of-the-art Parson’s Walk facility sampled dozens of different brews, as well as a selection of fruit beers and real ciders and perries.

A host of DJs from the iconic Wigan Casino got things off to a spectacular start on Thursday night by bringing back the golden era of feelgood American dance music.

Alan Caine, Brian Rigby, Malc Maguire and Mick Jolley all spun the decks together for the first time since the famous soul all-nighters and played classic tracks from the ‘60s and ‘70s right through to more contemporary sounds.

The Reet Good Beer Festival has well and truly established itself as one of Wigan Youth Zone’s most popular annual fund-raisers with all the proceeds being ploughed into the facility and its services.
