Pub bosses hope the new, improved Red Cat, will remain a community, family-friendly pub, while at the same time being transformed into a destination food pub.

It will continue to offer a wide range of real ales, beers and lagers, alongside traditional British pub fayre using locally sourced and seasonal produce.

There are plenty of events and special offers on, including a quiz night each week and Steak Night on Wednesdays, with more events to follow.

Publican Graham has worked in the industry for several years but this is the first pub he has run.

He said: “I’m delighted with how the pub looks and I’m really pleased to be open and serving the community and visitors to the local area.

“We offer traditional British pub food and we have some great meal offers available.

“As well as a weekly quiz night on Mondays, I’m hoping to start a Book Club and we had a Burns Night last week, which was really successful and the place was very busy. It’s reassuring to have so many positive comments since opening.

“It’s fair to say the pub was pretty run down, so it’s been nice to be able to breathe some new life into the place.”

Alex Felix-Thomas, Punch’s new business development manager, said: “It’s great to see the Red Cat pub doing so well after a full refurbishment.

“Graham’s enthusiasm and great ideas will help the pub go from strength to strength and become a place where all customers can feel welcome and enjoy a drink or something to eat.”
