NEW Subway stores could soon be opening in Wigan, following the brand’s ambitious expansion programme.

The chain plans to reach a milestone of 200 stores in the Lancashire, Merseyside, Cheshire, Cumbria and Isle of Man region by the end of 2015.

Although details of how many are expected to be in Wigan, there will be a total of 10 to be opened in the region, creating a minimum of 60 jobs.

Subway development agent Neil Denny said: “The level of growth that the Subway brand has experienced in the UK and Ireland is a fantastic achievement.

“Expansion in our region is going strong and we are looking forward to opening many more stores throughout 2015.

“The plan for further growth is in response to the increasing consumer demand in the region for affordable, healthier choices.

“With a population of 1,167,000 in Lancashire, we believe these plans are very achievable during 2015 and we are actively looking to attract local entrepreneurs to become franchisees operating these new stores.”
