WIGAN’s Labour candidate Lisa Nandy has given birth to a son.
The Shadow Minister for Civil Society and her public relations consultant partner Andy Collis are said to be thrilled by their first child together. The couple have named him Otis.
The Swinley-based politician, 35, who hopes to regain her seat at next week’s poll, went into labour on Wednesday and gave birth at Wigan Infirmary’s maternity unit later that evening.
A Wigan Labour Party spokesman said that the candidate had been getting plenty of exercise on the campaign trail as the general election coincided with the later stages of her pregnancy.
He said: “Lisa is delighted to become a mother and couldn’t be happier.
“She is incredibly grateful to the NHS staff in Wigan for their amazing care and dedication. Lisa would also like to thank people across Wigan for their kind words and support during a very busy time.”
